So I got some of my digital designs printed digitally and I have then started working back into them using screen printing. It's only subtle things that I have worked into the designs, such as the spine and brain image I digitally printed the colours and then printed the outline using pearl binder to create a metallic look.
second digital print that has been worked into making small marks using pearlbinder to give the colours a metallic look.

Print room fun....
so I've gone into the print room this week, testing out some print techniques and dying some fabric to suit my colour palette so i'm not just printing on white. Takes some getting used to as I haven't been in there since first year....oops...but yeah it's going well... so far!
These are the fabrics layed out, the two skull patterned ones I have used Devore to Burn out the image. The first one the Devore didn't work properly but I actually think I prefer it.

Context Ideas...
These are just some context ideas of the shapes of the t-shirts I am thinking about creating and to show my initial design ideas in context as it gives me a much better idea of weather they are going to work or not. I'm actually quite pleased with how it is going.

final year
been in final year since september now but I just haven't been very good on the blog side of things oops!
created these backgrounds using inks, watercolour and gouache..
these below are ink trapped between acetate...trying to simulate the look of cells under a microscope...
A few quick sketches in fine liner ....
so I'm doing my project based on anatomy, mainly human anatomy but also bringing in a bit of the old plant and animal anatomy too. So basically been doing loads of drawing recently, the old sketches in fine liner etc and also some backgrounds as well as some 'finished' drawings.

KEELERGORDON WORK PLACEMENT
I did a second placement during the summer break down in London at Keelergordon for 3 weeks. This placement was completely different to my last one but still really good. It was a lot more hands on which I really liked and I learnt a lot about the print room, how to strip and expose screens and how to mix the dyes and pastes for printing.
I was lucky enough to be trusted to do some printing onto fabric for some of the sample garments that they create and to do some devoure and foiling. I really apprecieated the chance to work in the print room as I haven't really been in there in the last year as most my work had been digital. I also constructed the sample garments at Keelergordon which really helped to improve my sewing skills which will help in third year when it comes to constructing garments.

2011 UNIVERSITY PROJECT - UNIT 3-
This unit we were given a live brief to create a douvet design and a pillow case design for Diane Harrison. We were given three starting points to choose from, abstract, urban, or nature. I chose nature and went with using animals as inspiration for my work. This was my least favourite project and I found it quite hard to do but I feel it helped me because it really challenged me, it forced me to use my drawing skills in a way that I haven't used them before and improving them.
DIGETEX PLACEMENT 2011
Over the easter break while everyone else went off home I stayed by myself (boo) in Manchester to do a 2 week placement at Digetex. I didn't really know what to expect from the placement but I really enjoyed it. I learnt loads of new photoshop skills and how to edit images to a professional level. During my placement I helped them place their design murals into roomsets and cushions or chairs and helped to put together a promotional book for Digetex. I think that this placement has been really valuable to me and I can use the skills to further my own work.
2011 UNIVERSITY PROJECT - SUPPORTING STUDY 2-
I had really been craving the chance to physically make something so when it came to the second supporting study option I chose the leather bag making. I really enjoyed the challenge of doing something I had never done before and learning all the new skills, plus I got a pretty nice bag out of it, even if I do say so myself :p.
2011 UNIVERSITY PROJECT - SUPPORTING STUDY -
I used this supporting study to also enter a Dorothy Perkins competition so I tried to make my designs quite commercial and fit their brief but also keeping some of my own personl style and taste in the designs.

INSPIRATION
DRAWING DEVELOPMENT
DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
This project was based on Alice in Wonderland; looking at the various books and films created and creating my designs from this. I had loads of fun with this project experimenting with different ways of colouring my drawings using jam and tea. I thought these were quite fitting as these are items that are very much part of the Alice in Wonderland story. I produced these designs for an interior context.
